The Drop Movie Quotes
"The Drop" movie quotes follow the action when a drop bar, packed with gangster money, is robbed leaving those working at the bar left to deal with the consequences. The crime drama was directed by Michaël R. Roskam using a screenplay from Dennis Lehane. Including the last feature film appearance by the late James Gandolfini, "The Drop" opened in theaters on September 12, 2014.

In "The Drop," Bob (Tom Hardy) and Cousin Marv (James Gandolfini) operate Cousin Marv's Bar, a local watering hole that Marv formerly owned, but has now been taken over by gangsters and used as a drop point for dirty money. So one night when the bar is robbed by masked men, Bob and Marv are on the hook for the lost money.

Not only do Bob and Marv have detectives (John Ortiz and Elizabeth Rodriguez) knocking on their door looking to find out what happened--and what was happening in the bar to begin with--but they also have the gangsters who own the bar after them looking for their missing cash. This forces Bob and Marv into a corner, the only exit from which might mean they will do something they cannot ever take back.

"The Drop" joins the winding down summer 2014 movie season that also included "Dolphin Tale 2," "No Good Deed," "The Identical," "Frontera," "The Longest Week," "The November Man," "The Congress," "Life of Crime," "Starred Up," "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For," "If I Stay," "When the Game Stands Tall," "Are You Here," "The Expendables 3," "Let's Be Cops," "Life After Beth," "Frank," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "The Hundred-Foot Journey "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Get On Up," "Hercules," "Lucy," "Magic in the Moonlight."
The Drop Movie Quotes,

They Call It a Drop Bar
Bob: "In Brooklyn, money, it changes hands all night long and it's not the kind of money you can deposit in the bank. But all that money needs to end up somewhere. They call it a drop bar. We just hide the entire city's dirty money right in plain sight."

Bob gives a quick breakdown of the setting and plot of the film. In Brooklyn, mob money is exchanged in plain sight all the time, including at the bar he tends. Few realize that it's happening all around them, but it's definitely happening often.
I Had Something
Cousin Marv: "Well I'm not the guy who wasted his entire life waiting for it to start."
Bob: "You think I did that?"
Cousin Marv: "Mmmhmm. At least I had something. I was respected. I was feared. When I walked into a place people sat up, they say up straight, they noticed. What'd you ever have? A barstool, which you put that old Betty at and bought her free drinks and don't you think I don't know you did it on purpose. That was my stool and nobody sat on that stool cause it was Cousin Marv's stool and that meant something! That meant something!"
Bob: "But it didn't… ever. It was just a stool."

Cousin Marv and Bob have very different ideas of the impact Marv made during his life. Marv sees himself as someone who was the most feared boss back in the day where as Bob remember things much differently.
I Just Tend the Bar
Nadia: "I heard that Cousin Marv does own the bar, some hard guys do. You're not a hard guy."
Bob: "Yeah, we had a crew when we was back in the day, when we was younger. Marv, he thought he was a tough guy. Then the neighborhood changed. It wasn't enough to be tough. You had to be mean."
Nadia: "You still in the life?"
Bob: "Nope, I just tend the bar."

Nadia asks Bob about the situation with the bar to get a sense of who Bob is. As Bob explains, Cousin Marv once owned the bar but times have changed and the bar, along with the neighborhood, have changed hands.
Do You Know Who You're Jacking Here?
Robber: "All of your money right in the bag!"
Cousin Marv: "Do you know what you're doing? Do you know who you're jacking here?"
Robber: "Fill the bag!"

Bob and Cousin Marv encounter two masked robbers at their bar. Marv tries to explain whose money they are stealing, but this logic is lost on the criminals.
Rocco's Better
Nadia: "What are you going to name him?"
Bob: "I was thinking maybe Rocco. I'd like to name him Rocco but then I thought, Mike."
Nadia: "Mike?"
Bob: "You don't like Mike?"
Nadia: "No, Mike is not a great name for a dog. Rocco's better."
Bob: "Right, okay… Is that they named you Nadia after the gymnast?"
Nadia: "Yeah"
Bob: "So you're a gymnast?"
Nadia: "No… Here you do, see, Rocco. See, he likes it."
Bob: "Yeah, I like Mike."

Nadia and Bob discuss names for Bob's rescued dog. He's happy with a basic name like Mike while Nadia urges him to go for something more dog friendly.
You're Going to Give Me Ten
Eric Deeds: "You know what you're going to do. You're going to give me ten."
Bob: "What?"
Eric Deeds: "Ten grand, by tomorrow morning"
Bob: "Whose got ten thousand dollars?"
Eric Deeds: "Come on, listen, you want the dog, you give me ten. It's simple."
Bob: "Listen to me, pal, you can't come walking into people's lives and expecting…"
Eric Deeds: "Listen, listen, just take it easy. Listen to me. That is life. That's what it is. People like me, coming along when you're not looking."

Eric, who has stolen Bob's dog, attempts to extort money out of Bob. Bob doesn't see things quite as simply and is not eager to give this random person a bunch of money he doesn't have.
Some Sins That You Commit That You Can't Come Back From
Bob: "Are you doing something desperate? Are you doing something that we can't clean up this time? There are some sins that you commit that you can't come back from."

Bob asks Cousin Marv what he is planning to deal with the situation. Bob also reminds Cousin Marv that some harsh reactions cannot be taken back.
See Whose Name Is on The Sign
Cousin Marv: "You ever go out in front of the bar and see whose name is on the sign? That's my name, cause I used to own it."
Bob: "He pressed, you blinked, it's over. It's been over for a while now."

As Bob points out, Cousin Marv is living in the past if he thinks he still has a claim over the bar. It was his but isn't anymore and now that's old news.
