Flight Movie Quotes

"Flight" movie quotes follow the twists and turns of the mystery drama film from Academy Award-winner Robert Zemeckis. "Flight" tells the tale of an airline pilot whose miraculous heroics saved many lives but personal issues put his efforts into jeopardy. The film, given a November 2, 2012, release date in the United States, earned critical praise after its debut at the 2012 New York Film Festival.

In "Flight," Denzel Washington portrays Captain "Whip" Whitaker, a troubled yet highly skilled pilot. A routine short flight turns into terror when the plane he's flying falls apart in midair. Using an unconventional maneuver, Captain Whitaker amazingly lands the plane rather than crashing it into a residential area. He and numerous passengers survive and Whip becomes an American hero.

But the instant celebrity that comes with his heroics comes at a price for Whip as he's constantly under the microscope of the press and the country. Things only get worse when it's revealed that Whip had alcohol in his system at the time of the crash. Even though experts agree that a mechanical malfunction was the cause of the crash, Captain Whitaker still must deal with trying to defend himself against charges that could land him in prison. Don Cheadle, John Goodman, Kelly Reilly, Bruce Greenwood, Melissa Leo and Garcelle Beauvais co-star in the stellar ensemble cast.

According to critics, "Flight" is sure to get some attention from the Oscars as awards season approaches. It will face some stiff competition with other movies also hungry for recognition including "Cloud Atlas," "Wreck-It Ralph," "Nobody Walks," "The Sessions," "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D," "Chasing Mavericks," "Alex Cross," "Smashed," "Sinister," "Seven Psychopaths," "Argo," "Here Comes the Boom," "The Paperboy," "Taken 2," "Frankenweenie," "Butter," "Won't Back Down," and "Looper."
