Beyond the Lights Movie Quotes,

Let's Lose the Jacket
Macy Jean: "Are you getting the full body as well?"
Photographer: "I am getting the full body as well. That's foxy. That's it. Right there. Can you arch your back just a little bit. Exactly. Lift up. Eyes back over here. Beautiful. Noni, show me. We want to see you. Exactly. A little bit of that. All right, let's lose the jacket. Can we lose the jacket? That's right. Yeah. You look gorgeous. Perfect. Angle your body, that's it. This is it. That's the cover. You want that cover? That's it."

Noni is pushed to take off her top for a photo shoot. With her mother and Kaz in attendance at the shoot, their opinions of what is best for her is mixed, to say the least.
Just What Did You See?
Noni Jean: "That night on the balcony, you were screaming, 'I see you.' So just what do you see?"

Noni questions Kaz about what he meant when he rescued her after she jumped off a balcony. He said he saw her and she wants to know what he saw.
I See You
Noni Jean: "I feel like I'm suffocating and no one can see me."
Kaz Nicol: "Can you look at me for a second? No, wait! Hey, hey, look at me. I see you. I see you. I see you."

Noni is at the end of her rope and jumps off a balcony. In a daring rescue, Kaz grabs her and reassures her that he does see her, even if others don't.
Just Like You
Kaz Nicol: "Hey, pop, you remember when I was a kid and you'd tell me about the people you saved and all the bad guys you put away? Everything was so simple. You were like Superman to me. All I wanted was to be just like you."
Captain David Nicol: "Son, all I wanted was for things to be better for you."
Kaz Nicol: "Yeah but better for me might not have anything to do with my career."
Captain David Nicol: "Are you saying you don't want to be a bitter, heart-broken man?"
Kaz Nicol: "Are you saying an old, bitter, heart-broken man?"
Captain David Nicol: "Yeah"

Kaz and his father, David, have different ideas about how Kaz's life can be better than David's. David sees professional success as the goal while Kaz doesn't want to die alone and sad, towards where he sees his father heading.
My Actions Will Speak Louder
Pastor Marks: "Officer Nicol, I was more than willing to break bread with you but I'm not sure I can support someone who looks like a college boy."
Kaz Nicol: "There was a 26-year-old minister who led the civil rights movement."
Reverend Brown: "Are you comparing yourself to Dr. King?"
Kaz Nicol: "Not at all, reverend. What I mean to say is, progress rarely comes from those who are content and secure. It comes from those who are unsettled by what they've seen. There is a daily violence in our community and I have a front row seat to it. Nothing stops a bullet like a job. L.A. is better when our community is strong and I'm going to inspire city hall to invest in us. Now the truth is, I can't win the election in this district without your support. I hope that you become more familiar with me. I can earn your respect. In the meantime, my actions will speak louder than anything I can say tonight."
Pastor Marks: "I look forward to your actions."

Kaz and his father invite local religious leaders over for dinner in the hopes they will endorse Kaz in his bid for political office. They are not entirely convinced but are interested to see what Kaz an do to prove himself.
We're Selling a Fantasy

Macy Jean: "This thing, it's not good for her. You throw off her game."

Both Macy and Laim want Noni to be successful in the music world and are willing to sacrifice her morals and her personal life to that end. Neither have asked Noni what she wants in this debate.
I Need to Say Something
Noni Jean: "Everybody says I'm special cause I have this voice but I'm just saying what everybody else wants me to say. I need to say something."

Noni is frustrated by her place in the world. While she is rich and famous as an up-and-coming singer, she is limited by what those around her want her to be, not who she really is.
When Did You Ever Tell Me?
Macy Jean: "When did you ever tell me that you didn't want this?"
Noni Jean: "When I was on that balcony"

Macy, Noni's mother, confronts Noni after Noni talks of quitting the music business. Macy argues that Noni never objected to anything she's done on her ladder to success but Noni sees it differently.

Noni Jean: "I need you. You need me."

While they are not the most likely match, Noni realizes that both of them need each other. They are at crossroads in their life and both have big decisions to make either alone or together.
